About us

our story. Our trails.

Our Riders.

What started as a group of riders who wanted to do more for the land they love has grown into one of southern Idaho’s most active backcountry riding clubs.

Dedicated to preserving, protecting, and promoting backcountry riding in the great state of Idaho.

Who We Are

A Club Built on Dirt Roads and Handshakes

Mt. Harrison Backcountry Riders is a non-profit club based in Cassia County, Idaho, formed in conjunction with the Idaho State Snowmobile Association. We started because riders in the Burley area needed something that didn’t exist yet — an organized way to ride together, give back to the trails, and have a real voice in public land access decisions.

We’re ATV, UTV, and snowmobile riders. Families loading up for their first trip. Weekend warriors chasing new routes. Longtime riders who’ve been running these trails for decades. What connects us isn’t the machines — it’s the shared belief that Idaho’s backcountry is worth showing up for.

Every dollar from our $35 family membership goes directly into the riding community — trail maintenance, group rides, family events, and statewide advocacy through ISSA. We have no paid staff and no overhead. When you see cleared brush on a trail or a new route marker, that’s our members putting in the hours.

We meet monthly from November through March on the second Thursday of each month. Between meetings, we stay connected through our Facebook page and the Band app, where members share trail conditions, plan rides, and keep each other posted on what’s happening across the region.

Our Values

What We Stand For

Community First

Everything starts with the people. Group rides, trail work days, monthly meetings, family events — this club runs because riders show up for each other. That's always been the point.

Land Stewardship

We don't just ride these trails — we take care of them. Brush clearing, route marking, erosion control, and working with local land managers to keep Idaho's backcountry accessible and healthy for the long haul.

Advocacy & Access

As members of ISSA, we have a direct voice in statewide decisions about trail funding, public land use, and OHV access across Idaho. Every membership strengthens that voice.

Our Partners

Proud Member of ISSA

Mt. Harrison Backcountry Riders operates in conjunction with the Idaho State Snowmobile Association (ISSA). This partnership is core to who we are — it gives our members a direct voice in statewide trail access decisions, connects us to a larger network of clubs working to protect public land recreation, and provides resources for trail grooming, safety education, and rider advocacy across Idaho.

When you join Mt. Harrison Backcountry Riders, your ISSA membership is automatically included. That means you’re not just supporting local trails — you’re part of a statewide effort to keep backcountry riding alive for the next generation.
